Of the four activities we did today (Birthday Line Up, Story Mirror, Interview, and Two Minute Movie), which activity helped your group really work together? In other words, which activity do you think helped bring group members together so that they worked to achieve a common goal without anyone dominating the activity? Be sure to say WHY you think this activity was the best at creating an ensemble dynamic!
Your answer should be at least 100 words - be thoughtful and SPECIFIC - vagueness is the enemy of art!
I think that the "Two Minute Movie" activity made us work together the most, because it required many conversations where we all had to listen and evaluate ideas. We also had to cooperate while acting out our scenes to make sure everyone knew what they were doing. In order not to have someone dominate the group we had to constantly communicate to each other. This activity was best in creating an ensemble dynamic because we all like the activity. I think we all wanted to work together on this activity because we all want our scene to be clear and understandable.

ReplyDeleteIf you ask me, I think the story mirror forced me and my partner to really focus. It really helped me work with my partner because we were both focused and exited because the whole thing sounded so fun! At first it was a little hard but after a minute or two we got the hang of it. Once that was done, we were able to tell 5 stories with in vary little time while the other half of our group was doing the same!
I think it was the 2 minute skit because we had to all agree upon something and all work together to make it work. sometimes people didnt agree toally but we got past that.
ReplyDeleteThe 2 Minute Movie helped our group work together the best because we all had to listen to each other to make the scene possible. We also had to be vocal and cooperative so that our ideas were known and considered. Everyone in our group had to discuss how each person would play different parts and how to make our scene effective and short. It also really helped that everyone liked the activity and had fun with it as well as loving the movie that we were going to do. It was hard trying to figure out what parts to keep in our movie and what to cut out since so many of them were good.

ReplyDeleteI think that out of the four activites the two minute movie activity was what really helped us work together. First, in coming up with the movie, we would find a couple that we had all seen and then decide which one would work the best and which one we would want to do. Also, we especially worked together at coming up with ideas on how to do the skit and practicing the skit. All of us also told our thoughts and ideas about what is necessary to have in the skit and what is not. We also practiced on communicating about the skit to each other, which helped us work together.
I think that out of four the activities we did on Friday the two minute movie got the most people involved at once. In a way hard to move fast in the project because if one person had an idea then for the others you would have explain it to everyone else so they were all on the same page. But with the other activities it seemed like one person would talk or movie and the others would be watching so it didn't seem like everyone's brains were on the same gears more like just watching a movie. I also think that the two minute movie show who was more comfortable and moving about and wanting to be heard, so you got to see who people were even better.
ReplyDeleteAll the activitys were challenging and required us all to pay attention, but I am certain the two minute movie brought us all together with more ellagence then the others. I think this way because we all had to agree on a movie to portray, wich by its self takes sacrifice and patients. The hard part though, was actually deciding how we would use the apropriet lines and actions to convay a clear image on what movie we had selected. This tuck allot of energy and we all had fun acting for the the first time as a group.

ReplyDeleteI think the Two minute movie was definitely the most challenging, but also the most beneficial towards team building. We were all submitting different ideas and interpretations of our movie, and it helped having more than one set of ideas. It also gave us a clearer view of what our teamates were like, how they acted, and their different personality traits.
I think that the 2 minute movie activity brought us to all work together because it was a fun! We all loved the movie that we were working on everyone had great ideas of what we should do. This also helped because we all got to know each other and what there personality is. When you get to know each other your not afraid to be yourself and not care if you do something silly in front of them. So I'm glad that we all got to work together and have a good time!

All the exercises were challenging and made us all work together but the exercise that helped our group the most was the 2 minute activity. It helped us the most because we all suggested movies we could do and learned more about each other. Also, everyone brought something to share with others and it taught us all to be comfortable not only doing the two minute movie in-front of each other but in front of the class. We also got to pick who we wanted to act out and it was funny laughing along if one of us had a funny part in the movie. It really brang out everyone's personality and really brought us together. --Odessa C. :)
ReplyDeleteThe two minute exercise was interesting and challenging. It took awhile to get orginized but we all came up with some movies but once we got comefortable we all came up with some great ideas. Im looking forward to doing the activity tommorow.

I definately think that the Two Minute Movie allowed my group and I to really work together because before that point we were getting to know each other and we were all very shy. However, by the time we did that activity, we were comfortable putting ourselves out there to help think of ideas and act out those ideas. We all worked together very well. We did have some trouble picking our movie because whenever we decided on one, somebody would think of an even better one. Eventually we decided on a movie in which we could portray the scenes in a simple enough way for someone to guess it. I am very excited to present our movie scenes tomorrow.

I think that the 2 minute movie helped my group work best together. We didnt truly connect until we began brainstorming movie ideas. We found that we liked many of the same movies and it was difficult to settle on just one. Once we began working on the actual acting, we had lots of laughs and we got to know eachother better by seeing a little bit of eachothers strengths. I really enjoyed this part of fridays activites and im excited for tomorow!
ReplyDeleteOf the four ensemble activities our group did the interview brought our group together the most. The interview was the most affective because it gave people in my group an opportunity to share a personal story and we also gave feedback and asked questions about the stories. After each story was told we shared laughs and I think that brings us together the most. I was very pleased with how each member was respectful of others.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the very thoughtful and interesting responses, all. It sounds like the 2 minute movie was generally where people worked best as an ensemble. Those of you who cited other activities - I love your observations about why those were meaningful. Great job!
ReplyDeletewell in my group's 2 minute movie was awesome and we started with nothing not even knowing each others name's. then we started talking and chose to play finding nemo and bam were all in a play in front of people.
ReplyDeletei just found it awesome that we were able to go from stranger's to co-worker in a way.
I was Absent today so...
ReplyDeleteFrom what I observed today, it seemed like the "Two Minute Movies" really made some people commit to their actions on stage. Also, from what I could tell, it forced those people who wanted to act put aside their comfort zone and open up while preforming. Everyone did a good job today.

You can learn much from working in an ensemble. When you work in an ensemble, you also learn how to cooperate as a team, and get to know each other's quirks and how they think and act nearly eliminating all shyness (hopefully!)
ReplyDelete2.It's also very important to learn to work as a team EVERYWHERE, so you can be a more valuable and vital part of your team, not just the person who sits there and waits so the team can tell them what to do. When you're a more valuable teammate, you can also learn to make more friends, and get more out of all your expiriences overall.

I personally think the two minute movie excercise was the best. We had to learn to communicate with each other and not stand around being useles. It really helped us use our voices and put in our opinions. Speaking up made sure no one person did all the work. Nobody was made to be more important than anyone else. Everybody was committed and we had to work hard so nobody looked bad. I think working with different people was good for us because we got to learn about each others strengths and weaknesses. All the excercises came in handy to help us become stronger as an ensemble.

i really like how all of us can cooperate and theres alot of people. its awesome. im nervous that i wont survive. i pretty much garuntee failure. izze moseley
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed performing the story mirror, because you had to focus on what the other person was doing and actually focus on someone else, other than yourself. During that time you make sure you were doing the correct motions and letting the other person lead the way. Thats important in everyday life because you can't always lead the way sometimes people know better than you. And you have to have trust in their decision. A lot of people like leading the way and there always is time for that but this works on letting your partner try that.

oh wait. wrong blog. hah im smart. okay i think that the two minute movie was awesome, because it helped us make new friends and it was critical to the key elements of learning to act. izze moseley
ReplyDeleteThanks, all - I'm enjoying what I'm reading. Izzie, just think of how brave you are to admit you're afraid. And other than using your phone when you weren't allowed, you're doing great! :)
ReplyDeletei totally agree with daniel obviously.because no one needs to be left out of the group.for if tht happens, they dont pay so much attention and they might not understand what they are doing as well as they could.
ReplyDeletei feel tht it was the two minute movie tht helped us all work together as an ensemble because you had to communicate with one another in order to think of a movie to act out.also, we had to recall the movie and use our stengths to make our two min. movie the best that we could.

I think that the story mirror was the best way for our group to come together. I believe this because we all laughed about it which made us closer and not afraid to be silly around each other. Another reason is that one person could not steal the stage because everybody was trying to say the exact words at the same time as the person who was telling the story. Also you tried to make the story as easy as possible for the other group members, as you always say your job is to make the other actors look good. I think that this excersise helped us on this.

i think what made the 2 minute movie so much fun was that we got to work as a team with our group and make it funny. when the other groups did there 2 minute movies they were very intertaining and i never saw anyone have to many roles. I think every group did a great job and i would love to do this agian
ReplyDeleteThe two minute movie was really fun! I think that everyone got to learn how to work with people they dont know and not just choosing someone, as their friends! Everyones movies were very creative and entertaining. I would absolutely love to do some more ensamble work again!

I think the 2 minute movie really helped people in my group to open up to each other. It let us work together in a fun and creative way, which in most places makes working with others a lot easier.

I think that the 2 minute movie thing was what our group really needed to open up to each other. We got to learn a lot about our fellow teammates and we had to work together to think up something to do, and to do it. Also, it was really fun to create!
ReplyDeleteThe 2 minute movie was the thing that connected my group. It forced us to talk, and get to know each other better, and making the 2 minute skit was a fun thing to do together.
