CLOWNS!

Clown Skit Reflection

Please take a moment to reflect on your clown skit experiencing. You shared stories with your group, then devised a clown plot for your skit, rehearsed it, and then performed.

Answer ALL of the following questions:

1. Was there anything confusing or difficult about the INSTRUCTIONS?

2. Other than filling the 5 minute requirement or choosing a story, what did you find challenging about this assignment? Explain in DETAIL! Why? How?

3. What was your favorite part about the clown skit? Explain in DETAIL what you enjoyed! Why? How?

4. What grade would you give yourself? Explain why you think you earned that grade?

  1. 1. there was nothing that i thought was confusing about the instructions.
    2. i thought it was chanllenging to get my group to focus on what we were doing.
    3. My favorite part was the chasing seance we were going to do. i thought it was funny the way we had it set up.
    4. i think we would earn a C. I think we would earn a C because our over all skit would have been average. we defiantly could have done better planing out what we were going to do. And have more focus.

  2. 1.The instructions were easy to follow and not confusing.
2.It was not challenging because our group worked well together and we all had ideas to put in.
3.My favorite part was the tripping scene because i got to practice my falling skills
    4. I think my overall grade would be an A or B because we had lots of emotion and exaggeration but we did not completely fill the time zone.

  3. 1. The instructions were fairly clear and I understood what was asked of us. It was, at first, difficult finding out who was who and how to make the skit long enough, but we got what the instructions meant.
    2. In some ways, it was not challenging because we worked quite well together, but it was hard not to perform it too fast instead of slowing down and not exaggerating enough.
    3. My favorite part was, after finally figuring out what we were going to do, actually putting it together and playing my character when we rehearsed it. It was interesting to see our story unfold and how it turned out.
    4. I think our group's overall grade would be a B. I think we did really well with conveying our emotions and our storyline, although it did end up too short when we finally performed it in front of the class.

  4. 1. The instructions were pretty clear when looked at in more detail with the group.
    2. I think it was harder to expand upon the given story because we already knew what happened and it was difficult to think of things to make it more amusing to the audience.
    3. I liked watching others show off their skills because it was fun to see how different people interperted clowns.
    4. I would give myself an A- because my character didn't take a lot of effort but I still did my best to portray my character using my whole body.

  6. 1. The instructions were no problem at all! Considering I was absent for a day when the assignment was given I had to jump right into the skit. The instructions definitely help me keep on track.
    2. The one thing I found challenging about this assignment was the space issue. I was hard to run and hide and move around with the limited space, but I understand that this is an issue that can't really be controlled.
    3. My favorite part about the clown skit was preforming! I loved being able to use over exaggerated facial expressions and crazy movements and just plane silly humor!
    4. I think I would give myself an A because I really put a lot of effort into the skit. I also had lots of input while we were creating the skit! I think I did well getting into character and I wasn't afraid to be a clown on stage!

  7. 1. I had no problem with the instructions, they were very detailed and non confusing.
    2. I found it challenging to use our bodies to express what we were doing in our skit. However, I feel we did an exceptional job at it.
    3. My favorite part of this clown skit was bringing it all together and getting our parts all worked out.
    4. I would give myself a B+. I am very hard on myself when it comes to grading. I feel that I could have done better at showing emotion and using all the space given to us.

  8. 1. I believe the instructions were clear but hard to carry out.

2 In this, I found it challenging to portray my clown persona. In watching and performing the skits, it felt more like a mime ensemble than A clown skit.

    3. My favorite Parts of this skit was reenacting what I had fallen victim to, or finding creative ways to entertain without words.

    4. If I would give myself a grade on this, I would give myself a B because there were times of dead space and The entire group was not as correctly incorporated as they could have been.

  9. 1. I found it especially difficult to make the scene five minutes in length, but other that that, nothing difficult popped up in the instructions.
2.Other than the story choosing and time requirement, there were minimal troubles with my group, and none that immediately come to mind.
3.I enjoyed the part where i slammed the pie all up in Hanna's (I sincerely hope I spelled that right) face. Why? I could really identify with my character, and, as the saying goes, revenge is sweet.
4.I would give my group a high B to a high A, as we used our bodies well, and all, (Excepting yours truly, unfortunately) were very clear in clown types.

  10. 1) The instructions were easily understandable and direct.
2)One of the things we found the most challenging was using three different types of clowns, then portraying those types. It was also difficult to make the plot clear and easy to understand while still making it silent and long without being repetitive. Another thing that was challenging was keeping the skit slow when we were performing it. When we practiced it was 4 minutes long, but when we actually performed it was only 3 minutes 15 seconds.
3)I really enjoyed working with the people in my group and getting to know them better. It was really nice because everyone was on task and I felt as if we accomplished a lot!
4)I would probably give myself (and my group as a whole) an A. I say this because I really felt like we knew where we were supposed to be and what we were supposed to do the whole time. Even though our skit was short, it told an understandable story and we really had fun making it!

  11. My Computer died< didnt have a chance to tell you in person
    1. I did not find anything confuzing or difficult about the instructions.
2.I found finding ways to stay in character and protray the clown type was difficult. Since I wasn't super clear on what traits my clown specifically used to show character.
    3. My favorite part of the clown skit was being able to perform it and have a good time with it! I enjoyed all of it after I got comfortable working with my group.
    4. On the clown skit I would give myself a 17 out of 20 since I did not have huge roles but I did act well when I did.

  12. 1.The instructions were easy to follow.
2.I found it difficult to work with my group at times. We all had different levels of motivation and commitment so it was hard to keep everyone on task.
3.My favorite part of our clown skit was the beginning of the chasing scene because I thought it was very entertaining.
4.I would give myself a 17 out of 20 because I thought that I did well but the group didn't cooperate very well so the overall performance could have been better.

  13. 1) The instuctions were very easy to follow, my group had no problems with them.
    2) For me, it was diificult to act out an entire complex story without using dialouge. We had to carefully choose our facial expressions and hand gestures so nothing was confusing. It was also hard to find "filler" parts. Our funny moment alone was about thirty seconds so we had to come up with four minutes of stalling material.
3)My favorite part of our skit was acting out the part where brandon caught my hair on fire and we were all freaking out. It was fun to really get involved with the character.
    4) I would give myself an A because I worked really hard to make the skit flow and I put a lot of effort into my character.

    1. I don't think the instructions were challenging at all, they were easy to understand.
    2. I think the most challenging parts were probably coming up with a story, figuring out how to make the story longer than two minutes, let alone 5 minutes, and telling the story without talking. Also it was hard to do it when we were missing two people on different days. Like when one person was gone on Monday and another was gone on Tuesday.
    3. My favorite part was probably trying to exaggerate everything and trying something new since I had never done this before. I like trying new things.
    4. I'd give us a D. We definitely didn't have five minutes, we didn't really know what we were doing, we weren't communicating too well, and we didn't even really end it...But I think we should get at least a D for trying and being sort of creative...

    1. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow. I felt that my group knew exactly what to do. It took us some time to warm up to eachother and get comfortable sharing our ideas, but then we had a very productive, and even fun, worktime.
2.It was difficult to work around the fact that Isaiah was sometimes there and sometimes not, and we didn't really know how to help him fit back into the group, and understand his role in the skit. It was also difficult to try and be safe with all of our movements and falls. :)
    3. I liked our skit because we got to be very physical and use our body to help establish our character. I enjoyed getting to work with new people and make new friends. I felt much more comfortable doing this skit, and I didn't feel embarrassed to commit to my character.
    4. If I could grade myself I would give myself an A. I think that got this grade because I really worked hard as the leader of my group to keep everyone on track and focused. I was very happy with the end result, and how I was able to have fun acting and not be scared abot what people would think of me. Thank you for giving us this opportunity to just be a clown. :)

  16. 1. The instructions were easy to follow.
    2. It was hard not only fillinf in five minutes, but working with my group. No one really put out any ideas but i did and no one wanted to do mine.I had barely any say in what was going on.
3.My skit was very out dorsey. we tried to incorporated anything you would do while camping. I loved our turning canoe.
    4. I think i deserve a B because not everyone was participating or paying attention at rehearsal, but when it came down to the performance, everyone tried their hardest.

  17. I found the clown skits very frusterating. I thought the firections ere completly clear but we had a hard time comming up with the story. Once we found our story it was hard to make it last 5 minutes. I guess we all were uncomfertable and uneasy with the "clown" acting. Which makes sense beacuse i have never acted and now i have to do it without words! I think the fun part of it was all of our ideas that we had! We changed our skit atleast six times. But it was nice to see that everyone was participating and giving their imput. I give my self atleast a B because i tried really hard to make our skit last even though i was absent when my group preformed.

  18. 1) I found the instructions clear and did not have any difficulty understanding them.
    2) Our biggest challenge was being creative as a group and finding things that were funny without talking.
    3) My favorite part was being chased. I like action and was glad that was my role.
    4) I think I deserve a B. I did my best but know that I have room for improvement.

    1) The instructions were easy to under stand and they were clear enough so we did not have to ask questions.

2)The most challenging part of this assignment was the placing of the "fake" objects around us and making sure that they stayed in the same spot with everyone using or going through them.

    3) my favorite part about our skit was probably everyone getting killed at the end. i thought that was really funny and so did the audience.
    4) our group probably deserved a B+ we worked really hard and we could have improved if we did the scene again.

  20. 1: I found the instructons clear and easy to understand.

2: The most challenging part of this assignment was to constantly be in cordnation with your partners without talking.

3: My favorite part about the skit was making the audiance laugh :)

4: our group probably deserves an A-, some parts of the skit got left out toward the end (thats why i hit my head on the door, to replace the missing part)

  22. 1. I didn't think anything was confusing about the instructions.

    2. I found it hard to pretend we had objects in our hands because with me, the "object" would keep changing in size because I couldn't keep my hands in the same place.

    3. My favorite part was performing.

    4. I'd give myself about a B because I tend to giggle a lot while I'm performing in front of the class, so it kind of ruins it for me.
